How Counselling Helps You Face Life’s Challenges

Counselling provides the space and opportunity to explore and examine your thoughts, feelings and concerns. This space is important because it’s not something we have in our everyday life. You could say that counselling is the chance to step outside of your everyday life and reflect on what’s happening, how you are feeling and what your worries and concerns are. These might be big life events like divorce, redundancy or bereavement. Or it might be thoughts, feelings and situations you have been battling with for years. The feelings and memories that are sucking the joy out of life, leaving you feeling stuck and lost.

The counselling relationship is unusual in that it is all about you – this never happens in any other situation. You get to explore what’s happening, be understood and supported. Being properly listened to, helps you to hear yourself and to become more aware of thoughts, feelings, ideas and long held patterns. As an integrative counsellor I can draw on a number of modalities to support you in your understanding and awareness. It is that awareness that gives you the opportunity and the chance to do things differently, to make different choices. It is these choices that bring about personal growth and change.
