My Meditation Journey

My meditation journey began 7/8 years ago when a friend suggested mindfulness meditation to me. I went along to an introduction to mindfulness meditation at Sharpham House and was blown away. By the end of the day I felt as if I was floating. I decided I wanted more of this. This was the very start of my journey and I have since explored mindfulness meditation, guided meditation, meditation for insight and getting in touch with your inner wisdom and now understand what an amazing tool meditation is.

On a very simple physical level meditation can help you feel more relaxed and reduce the effects of stress on the body, lower blood pressure and help you to sleep better.

Mentally, meditation can help you to clear out the clutter. Enable you to realise that you are not your thoughts, but the being beyond the thoughts. Shaping and honing the mind, helping you to release old thoughts, patterns and habits, that are no longer useful

“Be the master OF mind rather than mastered BY mind”. Japanese Proverb

On an emotionally level, meditation can help you get in touch with those emotions which you have long buried deep, that may yet, still be unconsciously affecting you, on a daily basis. Compassionately observing them, accepting them and releasing them.

Meditation can help you gain insight and access to your inner wisdom, sometimes just by giving yourself space to listen to the inner you and at other times, during guided meditation through symbols, images, words and new ideas.

If you were to do one thing for yourself this year, I suggest you learn to meditate. As meditation can enable life to be a richer and more fulfilling experience.

Being so enthusiastic about meditation, I have taken my meditation teachers qualification enabling me to share what I have learned by running a meditation groups and introductions to meditation.

Vivienne 🙂
